Blood Donation In Honor of Jack and Jill Graduate Jaden Blake
In a world where the need for blood donations is constant, our efforts at Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Mid-Western Region shine brightly. This past fall, our collaboration with the American Red Cross and the Jaden Sebastian Blake Foundation, has not only raised awareness but also made a difference in addressing the national shortage of blood, especially in African-American communities.
Our Mid-Western Region Area Work Day Cluster blood drive has garnered attention locally and nationally, thanks to Chicago Mother Member and Fox 32 Anchor, Dawn Hasbrouck. The Fox 32 segment showcased the power of our community and compassion.
One highlight was our commitment to honoring the legacy of Jaden Blake, a beloved Jack whose life was tragically cut short in 2022. Jaden’s mother, Mother Member Yvonne Blake Brown, has been instrumental in carrying on his legacy through blood drives, a story that deeply resonates within our organization.
The outpouring of support from our community, especially from our mothers and teens in the Illinois/Tri-State area, has been remarkable. Everyone’s contributions, totaling more than 20 pints of blood, demonstrate our collective commitment to giving back and making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Our message, “Our Blood Matters,” underscores the significance of every donation in saving lives and fostering empathy within our communities. Your support is invaluable and helps us save lives and build stronger, more compassionate communities across the nation.
